How Kiki lost her Groove
They have been married
for about 15 years and between them, they have two lovely
children, Omowale, a boy of 12 and Omotola, a girl of 8. Dan, 42
was a Geologist and worked with a reputable Oil Company in town
while Kiki, 38 trained an Educationist, taught the Sciences in a
High School. By the nature of Dan's job, he spent quite a great
deal of his working time out of town and precisely on the field,
mostly offshore. Kiki became a blessing to the family since by her
own work schedule and as an Educationist, she spent quality time
with the children. From Kiki's account, each time Dan was home to
see them, he left them with indelible memories and in her words,
Dan was an "adoring father" and a "wonderful husband". That was
not until one dark Monday when their world turned around and its
bearing seemed to be lost forever.
What happened that
Monday? In which way has it affected an otherwise wonderful
family? Where could they have gone wrong? To find out, read the
full story of Kiki.

The Bleeding Heart
Back to then and to my Uncle Gab, the centre piece of
this story. Uncle Gab was about 32, tall, slim built, fair
complexioned, and actually very handsome. He was loved by all but
also the one everyone complained and worried about the most. He
was troublesome, not necessarily quarrelsome, he dropped out of
school, and early in life, went into trucking where he made real
good money.
At that point in time
he had a Land Rover Jeep with which he did his business trucking
people, but mainly goods from the hinterland to the city. Despite
the fact that Uncle Gab was doing very well in all his businesses,
it took quite an effort to get him to settle down to a family
life. On the other hand, he became quite popular in town, as the
"ladies man." An otherwise good natured and very pleasant person,
Uncle Gab had the flare for both the bottle and women. |
